MEET THE FOUNDER

Roots Natural Candles was founded by Pittsburgh entrepreneur Samirah Young with a simple idea: fragrance has the power to make us feel. A candle can remind you of home. A perfume can change the way you carry yourself. A familiar scent can take you back to a moment you thought you'd forgotten. That emotional connection to fragrance became the heart of Roots. What started at the candle-making table grew into a larger vision—one where Samirah could create not only fragrances, but experiences that bring people together. Her approach combines creativity, sophisticated scent, thoughtful presentation, and the belief that luxury doesn't have to feel distant or impersonal. It can be warm. It can be expressive. And most importantly, it can feel like you. Roots continues to evolve, but its foundation remains the same: Create with intention. Lead with fragrance. Make the experience memorable.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Every Roots story starts with a candle. Roots Natural Candles was created from a love of fragrance and the way a single scent can completely change a space, awaken a memory, or create a mood. But from the beginning, the vision was never to create candles that simply smelled good. Roots was built around mood and depth—layered fragrances with character, warmth, and presence. That philosophy became the foundation of the brand. As Roots grew, so did the vision. Candles opened the door to body fragrance, personal fragrance, and eventually immersive experiences that allowed others to become part of the creative process. The candle was where it all began. The experience is where Roots is going.
